Escape from the ETC!

Soric's Journal #1

Cult Encounters of the Worst Kind

Soric’s Journal – Coat of Eyes Acquisition – Entry 1

If I hadn’t recruited some help for this mission, I’d be in the service of the Dragon Below right now, drooling and wearing a shiny necklace. My ramshackle team has proven their worth in a skirmish with some cultist muscle. These guys are a far cry from the stoic vault warden’s I’m used to working with.

The dragonkin weilds incredible power. In my estimation he could have felled the thugs by himself. I can say with certainty that these cultists have never witnessed primal arcana such as his.

The halfling, Surefoot is his name, has proven troublesome. His talent and temperment are not in question, but for some reason he provokes his enemies in an almost unartual way, causing them to attack him exclusivly and mercilessly. The little fella can take a punch though, I’ll give him that.

The kenku is a true mystery to me. To be honest, when I recruited him I was unsure that he knew what he had agreed to. When he brandished that strange weapon of his he was finally speaking a language I could understand. His erractic movements and strange appearance left our enimies ill at ease, which made them easier to leave dead.

Not much can be said about the elf. Elves. Always insisting on ornate and impractical weaponry without a proper grip. It’s only a matter of time before I step on that bow of his in the midst of battle. Something seems to be distracting him, I’ll be sure to keep an eye on him.

Lastly, we had a most unusual creature emerge from the wilderness to aid us in battle. A warrior composed of stone and steel that made use of the natural world to crush our foes and protect our arses. In a group as strange as this one, he fits right in and his talent was obvious.

A final note – It is my sincere hope that these men I have assembled have the strength of spirit to take a life. I suspect there will be more fighting to come and the burden on my soul may be too much to bear if I am tasked with dispatching all who stand against us.

We are waiting now to hear back from the elf and halfling who have scouted the cavern ahead. As my companions are not of dwarven blood I worry that they may lose their minds below ground. At least I can be counted on to remain clearheaded.
